2021 Big History Conference Lodging, Food, Tour, and Post-Conference Events
The form below is for anyone who wishes to arrange for meals and lodging through the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, as well as for the the pre-conference tour of Pune and the post-conference events.
You are free to make your own arrangements for food and lodging during your stay in Pune. You must sign up now, however, if you want any of the benefits offered by the conference; otherwise, it will be assumed that you will manage food and lodging in India on your own and will not be attending the special events.
Even though the event does not occur for some time yet, we ask that conference registrants complete this form as soon as possible so we can begin reserving rooms, arranging transportation, and allocating slots for the events. Thank you!
Meals and Lodging
We have reserved Symbiosis-approved guest houses for accommodations, which are near to the SSLA campus. Rickshaws as well as Uber and Ola cabs are available, and Symbiosis will provide a bus at the start and end of each day. The accommodations, as well as meals and tea at the campus dining hall, will be available at a reasonable rate. For example, double-occupancy rooms will run at about ₹2000 ($30) a day.
Pre-Conference Tour of Pune
On Sunday afternoon prior to the conference (August 1), we will arrange for a short tour of the city, followed by tea and a welcome presentation orienting you to India.
Post-Conference Events
The post-conference events will take place August 7th through 9th. Each location can accommodate up to about 30 participants. Attendees will stay at a local organization that is active in local change-making and will learn about their activities, including visits to their field stations. There will also be visits to heritage sites and trekking in ecological areas, in addition to panel presentations by conference and community members. See Post-Conference Events Details for more details about these exciting opportunities.
Payment
Payment is not due at this time – it will be made on-site in India in rupees.
