About Big History

The concept of Big History has grown appreciably since it was first discussed well over 20 years ago. In anticipating the acceptance and growth of Big History as a discipline, Professor Gretta Handke of Minnesota State University Mankato registered the domain names bighistory.org and bighistory.com to protect them for use by the academic community to explore and educate on the subject of Big History.

Among the most recognized proponents of the concept of Big History is Professor David Christian of San Diego State University and Macquarie University in Australia. As well as teaching, Prof. Christian is working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop a high school level curriculum on Big History called the Big History Project.
